“ABET è 1000 colori …” at EDIT Napoli. ABET laminates amidst the sun, wind, and sea of a neapolitan belvedere

Narrow alleyways in Naples, tall buildings and disorderly rows of laundry hung out in the sun. Everywhere the scent of cleanliness.
There are elements of the landscape so ingrained in our imagination that they become almost invisible, such is habit. The designer’s gaze is one that succeeds in bringing out what is taken for granted by giving lustre to simple but essential elements.
Abet è 1000 colori…” starts from this intuition, created by designers Giulio Iacchetti and Matteo Ragni for the sixth edition of EDIT Naples.
The installation dialogues with an equally iconic landscape: from the terrace of the Archivio di Stato di Napoli – Sede Sussidiaria di Pizzofalcone, the exhibition venue, the view sweeps over the Gulf of Naples with Vesuvius and Capri in the backdrop.
The work plays with the theme of laundry hung out among the Neapolitan alleys, a ‘hanging’ exhibition between metaphor and illusion. Abet laminates, in their 1000 chromatic interpretations, have been cut into the shape of tank tops, shirts, shorts, socks, and briefs and ‘dried’ in the sun and wind of the Neapolitan city, creating a dialogue between the bright colours of the materials and the surrounding landscape.
Deckchairs, designed by Abet Laminati, completet the visual experience, inviting visitors to enjoy the show immersed in a relaxing atmosphere.
“Abet è 1000 colori…” was one of the proposals of the EDIT CULT programme, a series of
installations spread across various points in Naples that link the city to contemporary design.
EDIT Napoli is a central event in the international design scene, especially among emerging designers who bring new proposals. Abet Laminati, by its very history, is closely linked to the world of art and design.
Founded in Bra in the late 50s, the company is the ambassador of the Made in Italy. Since its very conception, the company has promoted partnered synergies with major international designers, creating materials capable of interpreting the evolutions and revolutions that, year after
year, have characterized contemporary style and its regular cultural solicitations.
